On July 1, 1974, Jim Rees, Jon Broome and Joel Birken founded Rees, Broome & Birken, PC, in Tysons, Virginia. The three had become friends in law school and shared the vision of offering superior legal representation in a friendly, comfortable firm based in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. Their sense that Tysons would become an economic powerhouse turned out to be exactly right and the firm has grown and prospered along with Northern Virginia.
Today, Rees Broome, PC has grown to forty attorneys and has honed its expertise in litigation, business, tax, estates, employment, construction defect liability, homeowners’ and condominium associations, zoning, commercial real estate and creditors’ rights work. Every year, we find our attorneys named to “best of “lists. Now one of the largest firms based in Virginia, we have offices in Tysons and Gainesville, representing clients throughout the region. Rees Broome also opened its first Maryland office in Bethesda in July, 2010.
Our founders’ original concept of best-quality legal skills, a friendly environment and in-depth understanding of Northern Virginia and the region beyond is now entering its third generation. We look forward to every new challenge and to continued broadening of our services and our skills. And we work hard to give every client, old and new, the best possible advice and the best possible experience.
the Client's Advantage
The best possible legal response to any situation requires dedication in three areas: an awareness of the latest developments in law, an understanding of all aspects of our clients’ legal needs, and a commitment to communication.
We are experts on the law. Our attorneys are dedicated to a continuing process of legal education through seminars and organizational and committee service. This dedication to participation in the development of the law enables us to apply the best current knowledge to the client's advantage.
We understand our clients. We are dedicated to a comprehensive understanding of our clients’ businesses, professional needs and personal interests. That understanding makes us intelligent advocates for our clients across a broad range of issues.
We communicate with our clients and each other. We are dedicated to communication both formally and informally with our clients and internally at the firm. This intense commitment to communication, when combined with ongoing education, allows us to maintain close, comprehensive up to date oversight of matters our clients entrust to us
We maintain good relationships with other law firms and professional service firms. We do not claim to be experts in all areas of possible legal need. In addition, our clients often need assistance from other professionals such as accountants. Our long standing and extensive involvement in the Northern Virginia community exposes us to many different professionals. We will always refer our clients to other firms and professions when it is in their best interest.
