Community Associations

Rees Broome began representing condominium, townhome, and single-family associations in the early 1980s and has since established one of the largest Community Association practices in the country. We represent many associations across Virginia, Maryland, D.C., and West Virginia. Supported by one of the largest Community Association practices in the region—and continually expanding as our practice evolves—we are uniquely positioned to offer broad, reliable, and highly responsive service to our clients.

Our clients turn to us for a broad array of issues arising from multi-family associations, including:

  • Creation, amendment and enforcement of your governing documents
  • Corporate governance issues, including meetings and elections, community rules and regulations
  • Budget and assessment issues
  • The impact of state, local and federal laws and regulations
  • Maintenance and repair issues
  • Vendor contracts
  • Collection of delinquent assessments, fines and lien foreclosure
  • Collection of rent
  • Covenant enforcement
  • Easements
  • Architectural review guidelines and enforcement, including Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act issues

Because Rees Broome is a multi-disciplinary firm with expertise in litigation, land use, employment, construction and insurance coverage law, we can provide legal advice to our community association clients on tax questions, easements, construction defect and insurance coverage problems, as well as the day-to-day issues of budgets, elections, debtor situations and Board meetings.
